SEPA is located in San Isidro
de El General, a picturesque and friendly small city of the county Pérez Zeledón, 135
Km. from the capital city. This rural community is the gateway to Southern Costa Rica,
where life is very much like the old times with a touch of progress.
The region is topography is diverse and contains the highest altitude point in the country (3820 m.a.s.l.) the Chirripó mountain located in the Chirripó National Park as well as an extensive valley with an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level and the lowlands of the Pacific Coast.
The varied topography of the region extending from the high mountain plateaus to marine environments, allows for the existence of distinct micro-climates which explain the regionís greatest wealth of flora and fauna.
The average temperature is 23.7ºC (74.7ºF) and the precipitation is 3800 mm annually.
Sepa offers the student the opportunity to learn Spanish and participate in the
voluntary program.
The student also will be in direct contact with the Costa Rican Culture by living with
their host families. Some of the options offer the opportunity to take tours to very
interesting sites in the area as well as the ease of arranging your own trips during the
week-ends or at the end of the course.
Pristine beaches, Tropical Rain Forest, Cloud Forest, Paramo characteristic of Talamanca, the highest Costa Rican mountain range Chirripó National Park and many more beautiful places can be reached easily from the study Center.
